Monday Announcements

As the festival gets closer, check here for Monday announcements from the festival chair. Individual emails will not be sent. Directors are responsible for reading these announcements to stay informed.

    • May 6 - We have almost arrived! This is our last set of reminders and announcements before we finally get to enjoy our festival. Please review all of the Monday announcements prior to leaving for Moose Jaw, “Canada’s Most Notorious City”.

    • Our 2024 program, including a concise schedule will be available later this week. Check out the announcement bar on Wednesday.

    • Recordings of each session will be emailed to the directors by 10 PM the evening of the session.

    • Again, we would like to thank you for your patience as we navigated the troubled waters in Saskatchewan.

    • Can you build a better mousetrap? We are always looking for better and easier ways to get things done. If you have an idea please email or text the office and we will add it to our continuing “glitch list”. We maintain one each year.

    • Directors are reminded that it is no longer required to register at the festival office. A text to the office (306-681-3850) as you enter town would be appreciated but please identify yourself as you register virtually. It is recommended that you keep this number easily accessible on your phone during the festival.

    • Banners and any preordered t-shirts will be delivered to your first venue. The deadline to preorder t-shirts is this Friday, May 3.

    • Please inform your driver of the long term parking that is available. The map and descriptions can be found on our website in “Planning your trip”.

    • Remember that all venues are located in the downtown area and often walking is the easier option.

    • Consider doing what our most experienced directors do… book your accommodations for 2025 before you leave this year - Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, Temple Gardens, Ramada Inn, Holiday Inn, Best Western, Days Inn, Pilgrim Inn, Super 8, Heritage Inn.

    • We would like to thank everyone for their patience as we have navigated very turbulent waters.

    • NOTE: all concert bands will be performing at Peacock Centennial Auditorium only. Jazz bands at St Aidan and choirs at Zion.

    • Groups over 50 are asked to confirm numbers on stage to enable us to be best prepared.

    • “Moosic in the Park” still has openings. Please consider joining our concert program.

    • We appreciate everyone’s patience as we deal with the fluctuating situation in our province. Our final vision is mutual, as we all just want to provide a musically educational experience for your young students.

    • Emails have been sent out regarding the format of our festival which has been put on a short pause for now. Please keep checking the announcement bar at the top of our website, as well as your inbox, for a final announcement.

    • Note that the map for our long term bus parking lots has been updated and can be found under “Planning Your Trip” in the venue information. Please share this information with your driver.

    • Night Show audiences are reminded to please enter as a group and follow the ushers’ instructions. To make seating most efficient, please make sure your students are fed, watered, and toileted prior to seating. No individual tickets will be issued, but the ushers will have record of your numbers and will seat your group in their reserved seating.

    • Re: Saskatchewan teachers’ sanctions:

Our festival will go ahead for everyone who will be able to attend, possibly with some venue accommodations. Please check these announcements for up to date information, as we will post any changes ASAP.

    • Tickets are available for all night shows. Consider adding one to your itinerary.

    • We are still waiting for directors of large groups, over 50, to confirm the number of students on stage in order for us to be prepared.

    • Note that we realize that we are still trying to recover from the effects of Covid and thus, our festival offers groups a “Clinic only” format. Send an email with your request.

    • Everyone is reminded to fill out 2 of the bio forms for their clinicians. Please include them with your scores to the clinicians. String groups are asked for 3 copies.

    • Reminder that your students can purchase festival t-shirts ahead of time. Look for the “Shirt Store” on our homepage. T-shirts will be delivered to your first performance venue.

    • This is no April Fools. We ask that, after Easter break, please ask your students to label their instrument cases and music folders. Please include name, school, and town. Also, we request that you do the same with any percussion instruments and extension cords. It is easy to return left items that are labeled but impossible if they are not.

    • For any groups that had to book rooms in Regina but would rather be in Moose Jaw, the Ramada Inn has multiple rooms available. Please state that you are with the “Band and Choral Festival”.

    • Re: Saskatchewan teachers’ strike. At this point in time our fingers are crossed and our festival is planning to go ahead with the status quo. If Saskatchewan groups are not available we will still be offering an “Out of Province” revised festival.

    • Equipment lists are different for each venue. Please check the schedule for a list of what will be available for you at your performing venue.

    • Large groups, over 50, please confirm festival numbers on stage via email or text (306-681-3850, please identify yourself) by Monday, April 15.

    • FYI - 2025 will see an increase in the price of night show tickets. Each ticket will cost $10.

    • Please check the schedule for spellings any necessary corrections, as we take our program directly off the web site

    • “NEW“ - Drop off at Mae Wilson Theatre will be on Main St in front of the theatre. It is imperative that you DO NOT stop in the city transit stops. Drop off is ONLY in front of the hooded meters. You run the risk of a hefty fine if you stop in city transit spaces.

    • We have eliminated the registration procedure as technology has allowed for maps, receipts, etc, to be delivered electronically. No need to plan a stop at the Comfort Inn. Banners and preordered t-shirts will be delivered to your first performance venue, and distributed at the end of that session.

    • Please submit your final number of night show tickets needed, including adults, no later than April 1, via email. Tickets are to be paid by May 1 via either cheque or etransfer.

    • Note that we have tickets available for most of our night shows. Check out the night show schedule on our website and email if you are wanting tickets for your group.

  • *Reminder: You will be needing 2 scores for your 2 clinicians. Don’t forget to have one for yourself as well. Now might be a good time to order.

*When planning your trip, remember that you and your students are invited to sit in on any performance sessions. They will occur on the half hour in the morning and on the hour in the afternoon. Please check the online schedule to coordinate.

*Check the website later this week for the unveiling of this years logo. T-shirts can be pre-ordered for you and your students. This year, they will be delivered to your venue and given, along with your banner, at the end of your session

    • Please quickly check these announcements each Monday to keep us all prepared.

    • We have 85 tickets available for the Tuesday, May 14, 6:30 night show, “The Nightingales Quartet”, and 35 tickets available for the Monday, May 13 7:00 concert “Prairie Winds Community Adult Band”. Email the festival to reserve. They will become open to the public by April 15.

    • “Moosic in the Park” has one opportunity each day, Tuesday and Wednesday, May 14 & 15. There is no charge to participate in this event. Check our online schedule to choose your performance day and time.
